Christening Gowns

A unique, heirloom-quality Christening Gown can be created using your wedding dress as a resource and inspiration. Don't relegate your special gown to a back closet to gather dust or donate it to the local thrift store.

From this orignal gown - - - original dressChristening Gown

- - - to this beautiful Christening Gown and bonnet!

Using fabric and features of the original gown, a unique christening gown, baptismal dress, or confirmation dress, plus matching bonnet can be created for you and your family.

As much of the dress is used in the new gown as the chosen design allows.

In the example, in addition to the lace skirt, the fabric covered buttons, pearl beading at the neck and even the snaps on the sleeves, were used in creating this christening gown. Additional details were added to make the gown even more special. Satin ribbon was run through the beading on the skirt and satin ribbon bows with pearls add detail down the back.

In white-on-white embroidery, the baby’s name and birthdate is written on the underslip. The parent’s names and even grandparent’s can be included. A favorite scripture or poem will make the dress even more honored. Future children names can be added around the slip, creating a gown that is a true family heirloom.

Matching Bonnet: Lace or fabric from the dress is also used to create a matching bonnet with new satin fabric. A stand-up brim adds elegance. White ribbon ties and accent bows complete this darling bonnet.
